Finding an ATM when you really need one can sometimes seem like an impossible task. Luckily, Addison Avenue FCU has created a really amazing new App that utilizes augmented reality to help you find ATMs.

Augmented reality is a simple concept backed by powerful technology that allows users to utilize the GPS data from their mobile phones to locate certain things or see certain things on the screen of their phone. In the case of the Addison Avenue App, it helps you locate ATMs within a several mile radius.

The app has every ATM in the country on display, so all banks and credit unions are included in the search. It also has over 28,000 free ATMS specifically available to Addison Avenue members. With so many options this app could revolutionize the way people seek out ATMs all over the country.

When business owners think about the best places for their ATM machines, they typically put it near the cash register – where their employees and cameras can see who is using it. That location is perfect for thieves to get the most cash possible in one spot.

Surcharges are too expensive: This is by far one of the most common and repeated complaints against ATMs. They fees can range anywhere from $1.00 to $10.00 per transaction, and that is not including any fees added on by your bank for not using a networked ATM. However, it does not just end there, prices are steadily increasing and show no signs of slowing. Make sure to plan ahead to keep these fees at bay.

Machines are poorly located: Another top detractor is an ATMs’ location. If a ATM is poorly placed, most individuals will think twice before using that machine. Lower foot traffic and less transactions equals less profit and a loss on investment. ATMs that are placed in difficult to reach areas, obscure areas, and even poorly kept areas will all suffer. Other complaints include poorly lit areas for ATMs which users report makes them feel unsafe and lose credibility in the machine.

Machines malfunction: This complaint is more common than banks would have you believe. Many ATMs have to be updated and maintained to keep them operating smoothly. Many times outdoor ATMs become damaged by extreme weather conditions and they fail.

Complaints include machines not returning debit cards, failing to read card, lacking privacy and jamming money. Finally, some machines operate too slowly bringing individuals to believe that they have malfunctioned. This can cause users to be concerned about their information and security.
